Home-made Adjustable kiln extractor hood
My kiln extractor hood sits just above the automatic damper.
The extractor hood is fully adjustable it consists of a swinging arm, this enables me to position the extractor hood between my two top loader kilns. The metal hood can slide up and down on the swinging arm, it has several holes which are used to lock the metal hood in place.
The metal hood is connected to a aluminium flexible pipe which is connected to a box on the wall that houses a variable speed fan.
All the parts for the swinging bracket arm were salvaged from an old basic fitness rowing machine
I'm going to add a small control box so when the damper is closed the extractor fan will remain on for an adjustable time period when the damper is open for cooling. The option would be to automatically start the venting fan.

Above the kiln is the automatic damper, above the damper is an extractor hood.
